Make Me Over! Featuring: Ms. J. Hill

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of meeting and being made-over by Ms. J. Hill of J. Faces Makeup Artistry.
Ms. Hill was making me over in preparation for a following photo shoot and music competition I had later that day.
One thing you've got to understand about me: my makeup is Blistex...and on a good day, a dash of mascara. I've never been one to gravitate toward the Cosmetic aisles in Target or any Sephora in the mall unless in search of a new nail polish or hairbrush, so I was hesitant - to say the least - about getting my full face professionally done this Saturday.
My hesitance was not only unnecessary, but also whisked away as soon as I met Ms. Hill. Extremely professional, personable, and makeup subtly done up on herself, the face of J. Faces was the perfect fit for my first makeover. I requested something light and natural, and that's exactly what I got!

While she dabbed and stroked, I had the pleasure of speaking with Mrs. Hill.
This self-made makeup artist and small business owner founded J. Faces Makeup Artistry Co. 6 years ago in 2007. But the passion seed was planted years before when her older sister brought Hill to the MAC store in Times Square; it was by this makeup haven that Hill was blown away by the art of cosmetics. Hill says that for a long time she fought the idea of working in the cosmetic field because she was clueless as to where she would start (financially, skillfully, etc.). Many prayers, a "no thank you" to working in retail for the rest of her life, and an Aesthetics course at European Academy of Cosmetology later, Hill was ready to say "yes" to the beautifying industry.
With new found skills in everything from skin care to makeup technique to color theory, Hill began her professional experience at household names like Clinique Cosmetics, MAC Cosmetics and Bare Essentials. Working with such different skin care distributors gave Hill a new personal perspective, appreciation, and understanding for such diversely made beauty lines. Therefore making it easier to launch her own J. Faces makeup artistry and consulting company. Since that summer of 2007, J. Faces has worked with a great number of inner and outer-Philly powerhouse companies such as M.A.C., Jimmy Rollins Entertainment, American Cancer Society, Clinique, Today's Black woman Magazine, etc.
This is clearly only the beginning for the enthused entrepreneur!
