Tulle Skirts and Midriffs

This post, taken just about a month ago, is a final goodbye to the summer weather. For a little while, the heat seemed to be remaining, but as November quickly approaches, it has officially left the building! Scarves every day and socks every night is my official warning of autumn chills, and this is my official "farewell" to those hot summer days when wearing a crop top and no stockings was permissible!

Mentionable Monday

This weekend was so long and so fun because it was . . . 

HOMECOMING weekend!

The festivities began Friday with a pep rally and our Homecoming game

Saturday was homecoming!! I took my friend Ali, and she was the perfect dance buddy :)

This ensemble, is the perfect combination of sweet femme and a kick of edge with the dangerously adorable cap toe Dolce Vitas! The outfit speaks greatly as it mixes the two opposite trends.

Bill Cosby Sweater Weather

This week is Spirit Week at my school and this past Tuesday was "Famous Day". A few of my friends were Taylor Swift, some others Beyonce, and I - as you can hopefully tell - am Bill Cosby! I borrowed an old sweater from my dad and paired it with these skinnies. It was such a comfy day in my chunky sweater :)

It was also one of the first realizations of the cold months rapidly approaching . . . time to bundle it up!

City Dreams and Red Shutters

I know I'm just about two weeks late on this NYC outfit post, and a week of being M.I.A., but here it is!

I really loved this outfit; I always have to glam it up for New York, but I didn't feel over or underdressed with this - especially with the rainboots . . . even though it wasn't raining :)

I feel like there are certain places that require a specific dress code (church and other holy places, a courthouse and the theater being among them). I once wore this dress for a Sweet 16 with heels and the whole 9, but for this day, I dressed it down, but was still able to feel appropriately clad as Orlando Bloom ran by my seat onto the stage before me. It's all about presentation my friends, all about presentation :)

Meandering Monday

Long weekends have got to be one of my favorite things; no one telling you to wake up, no reason to step foot out of your jammies, and endless hours of catching up on Scandal - I'M HOOKED!

My girls have been killing it all week, especially in these outfits!

Friday night ANTM and brownies with my girls!

Saturday was too much fun! I went up to NYC with my godfamily and had an absolute ball. We saw Romeo and Juliet on Broadway with the handsome Orlando Bloom and forever-talented Condola Rashad, ate at 5 Napkin Burger where the atmosphere was warm and exciting but burgers were a little off :/ and went shopping in SoHo where I found (in Zara) what may possibly be my homecoming dress!

And Sunday I celebrated the birthday of my favorite 5 year old in the whole wide world :)

I think I've found my calling - Southern Belle life, here I come! What started off as a personal rendition of Atlantic Pacific's crop top glory ended up as an outfit that makes me feel like I'm either "meeting the parents" or taking a stroll through the old southern towns of Savannah, Georgia. I love it when an outfit puts you in a different mindset, whether it be a more positive one or one completely out of your element. This outfit reminds me how much fun it can be to play dress-up :)

Sequined Dreams: Day & Night

There's always that one piece that you buy on a whim because it's so cute and you just have to have it, and as soon as you get home it rots in your closet for months...am I alone in this?
Whether I am or not, this skirt is one of those pieces. I knew that I had to have it, but just as I came home, I realized I had absolutely nothing to wear with it. So in my closet it hung for months and months...and months. Until I find the perfect pieces to round off a specific skirt or sweater, I - by rule - will not wear it. An outfit is not made of one bangin' piece...an outfit is made of (often times) one bangin' piece and the other complimenting pieces, otherwise it looks a mess.
Rule #1: Don't rush to wear a special piece if the rest of the outfit isn't prepared

Locked out of Heaven

From the simplicity of the white button-up to the funky mixed-prints, I love this outfit! My friend was going for Lady Bruno (...Bruna?) Mars today, and she hit it on the head! I love love LOVE it! This is definitely a great play on the women donning menswear trend, and the sheerness of the button-up adds the perfect amount of femininity, but doesn't overpower the other pieces. I don't know the whereabouts for the entire outfit, but I do know the pants were a super-steal from Gap for only $10 - talk about stylin' on a budget!

Feelin' like a super-prep today! This outfit was so fun to wear today. It's my twist on the classic school girl look and I must say I do like what the studded belt and fringe wedges add to the mix. And the temperature outside has been perfect lately for these transitional outfits.
