Weekend Forecast: Matchy-Matchy

Goodbye to the seemingly endless days of color-blocking! Adios to the short-lived mix-and-match section of the swimwear aisle! Hello matchy-matchy!
Whether it's a celeb on the red carpet or a street styler boldly stepping out on the town . . . whether it's a crop top and a maxi skirt or a long top with a mini, this matching trend has snagged the eye - and wardrobe - of many.

Monochromatic, but never monotonous, this trend is fabulous! It is such a simple yet astounding way to shake things up. I'm not sure what exactly I love so much about it - perhaps everything! Whatever it is, I love that this trend is something so simple for anyone to do.

Inspiration Exists: Pop of Color

Since becoming aware of my and fashion's capabilities, I have always stuck primarily with blacks, white and neutral colored pieces to decorate my closet. I'd add a blue printed pant here or bright green shorts there, but never really ventured off any father from that. My eye gravitates toward "safe" colors because I know how to work with that. As the "pop of color" trend continues to extend it's branches (from makeup to shoes and handbags to the entirety of our closets) perhaps it is time to latch on . . . just a little

Mellow Mondays

This weekend was extremely mellow; with my parents in D.C. for a convention, I was home with my younger brother and aunt. Between intense Uno games, binge-ing out on Sun Chips and catching up on missed episodes of Tia and Tamera and Pretty Little Liars, the couch was my haven.

Celebrating the graduation (5th of the season) of a dear friend who has counseled and laughed me through many situations. I love you and I'm proud of you, Towson Tiger!

Seeing that one of my favorite Hollywood ladies has wed yet again!

This song! Ellie is so lovely; from her voice to her lyrics, she is just phenomenal and this song is definitely representative of the awesomeness that she embodies.

This song too! J'adore J. Cole!! A friend (heyy Chelsea) recently introduced me to J. Cole and his music, and I am floored at the talent that his mind so frequently exudes. His lyrics are magic and I love when musicians - rappers in specific - can set a mood, but more importantly tell a story (for this reason, I also love Macklemore) and J. Cole does this brilliantly

In the fabulous world of fashion, I adore many and aspire to few, but someone who has certainly captured my eye and whose closet I would gladly accept an invitation to invade is Miss Samii Ryan's.

Samii Ryan of By Samii Ryan is a culturally inspired accessory and clothing designer; each of her pieces are created with a spiritual meaning. Samii's style is a perfect culmination of sophisticated edge and west coast bohemian.

Opposites Attract

The other day, I was pleasantly surprised when a family friend (and owner of South of SoHo Boutique in Swedesboro, NJ) gifted me with one of her lovely skirts. The flowery lace accents are so sweet and I love pairing such a soft material with something as rugged and rough as studs. When it comes to jeweled accents, gold is my absolute favorite and lace is the loveliest material, so it was fun pairing the two opposites together in the same outfit.

*sigh* This weekend has been long, and not in the best way. . . but one of the things that has cheered me up - besides having a blast with my friends at a graduation party on Saturday - is this gorgeous printed pant I bought on sale Friday! So funky and functional , I'll definitely be playing around with these a lot; and as my first pair of printed pants, I'm excited to see the different match-ups that will come to be.

I love finding old clothes that have been completely forgotten about, but still look as if it was bought last week. I found this old H&M button-up in my closet the other day and haven't been able to take it off since! It's a classic piece that polishes off any day-to-night outfit. It's a great loose (boyfriend-like) fit and a comfy organic cotton material from H&M's Conscious-Material collection. I love it, I love it, I love it. . . and I hope you love it too, because it'll be showing up a lot around here! :)
