Friendly Friday

J'adore! My friend found this lovely-print dress for $8 at Plato's Closet and donned it to school today. The perfect-for-summer print was adorable, but this heart cutout accented the back of the dress so sweetly. How lovely and innocent it is! Without exposing too much, it reveals a touch of skin.

I also found these cutesy cutout pieces:

*HintHint* perhaps this new-found appreciation will lead way to a D.I.Y.

Our version of a family portrait!!

A lone flag hanging from a gate in Harlem...fitting for today and perfect for everyday; serving as a reminder of the vast freedoms presented to us living in this beautiful nation. Thank you soldiers, who fight and have fought selflessly every waking moment so that I can sleep peacefully knowing that my country is protected. Thank you for your never-failing courage and strength to always serve our flag.

Happy Memorial Day!

Lace Love and Ombre Coverings

Target Ombre Scarf, H&M Tank, Forever 21 Floral Lace High-Low Skirt, Vintage Belt, Forever 21 Cutout Geo NecklaceCharming Charlie Bracelet, H&M Ring (Anna Dello Russo Jewelry Collection), Rehesh Booties

Today at my school, we had our 19th Annual Memorial Day assembly...during which I cried like a teething baby! I love that we, and those across the nation, are taking this time to cherish and honor those who give cherish and honor our lives everyday by serving us at home and overseas. Thank you to the plethora of men and women serving, who have served and who will serve.
Although my colors are not traditional red, white and blue, I do adore this skirt-as I say about each of them. And have been itching to pair my new ombre scarf with it. Both are so delicately bold that they fit perfectly together.

May God bless you and the United States of America.

Optimistic Overalls!

Forever 21 Tribal Print Overalls, H&M Tuxedo BlazerForever 21 Skinny Studded BeltSteve Madden H-Troser Oxfords, H&M Straw Hat, Target Wristlet

There is something so uniquely special about overalls, especially this lovely pair! I bought these about two years ago from Forever 21 and have waited exactly that long to wear them...and boy, am I glad I did! Before today, I never knew what to wear with them that wouldn't make me look either baggy or over-exposed. Somehow, my fashionable instincts took over and this fun outfit came into play. It is a little short, *coughcough, growth spurts* but considering it has been two years, and I don't think they're inappropriately short.

Have an awesome Friday!

Magnanimous Mondays

Today's been a good day; I got out of school early, grabbed lunch at the local diner with some of my lady friends, came home to a lovely bed and slept for a few hours. Thank you, Monday for being so forgiving to my tired body, and allowing me a second to breathe and appreciate those around me.
This weekend was also quite lovely. Prom was certainly my highlight, but I spent a lot of good time with my family. Oh, and Philly, I forgive you for being so rainy and sad this weekend in the midst of my good times :)

My daddy getting slightly emotional while seeing me off to prom...don't worry, dad, you're stuck with me for a little while longer

Sequined Secrets and Rolling Rolls

^^^^Click me...and my other picture friends!

This past Friday evening was Prom Night for the seniors at my high school. Although I am only a mere sophomore, with two years to go until my very own prom, I went with a senior friend of mine.
It. Was. Brilliant. To say the very least. The dresses were beautiful, the location was essentially lovely and I had a blast!
Dancing in dresses-especially long, flowing dresses-is one of my favorite activities in the world, so to be around other people who seemed to be enjoying the past time just as much as I was is certainly a gift.

Here are some of my favorites snapshots from the before prom

My date rented a 1927 Rolls Royce Phantom II for our luxurious ride to and from prom. The ride itself gave a whole new level of anticipation to our prom night and made it ten times more memorable.
Among the night's many memorable moments, driving to the movies to see an 11:50 showing of The Great Gatsby was by far my favorite. After a long night of dancing and laughter, it was such a lovely opportunity to sit and enjoy the visual representation of such a beloved piece of literature...and going dressed up was so circa-appropriate!

Here are a few of my favorites from before and during prom!

Prepping-as always ;)

Magic Mondays...Tardy Tuesdays

This weekend was so lovely, and so bittersweet. As I said goodbye to 15 and opened the door to a (loudly) knocking 16, many tears were shed, many laughs bellowed and many smiles spread. Even though it was jam-packed, this weekend seemed very calm, and just flowed by.

Any trip to "The Big Apple" is a special one, but yesterday's trip was even more monumental because not only was I going to visit the MoMA, but I was doing so with a group of fabulous friends. I went shopping for my birthday the other night and found this simple high-low shirtdress at Forever 21 and fell in love. When I got home, the fun only increased when I got home and got to put the whole outfit together.

This hair-twist turban was super-fun to try out! I've never worn one before, but was so excited to have this cute little twist on my head.
~How-to coming soon!

...........and then I came home and took this ultra-serious picture.
